We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re aproaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter:
‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’ They pay for their order, take the two and leave.

I ask my friend: “What are those ‘suspended’ coffees?”
My friend: “Wait for it and you will see.”

Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square infront of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in throught the door and kindly asks
‘Do you have a suspended coffee ?’

It’s simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm bevarage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwitch or a whole meal.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have such cafés or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support ? If you own a business why don’t you offer it to your clients… I am sure many of them will like it.

I’ve always felt that the sport of rowing is strangely indicative of day to day life. Even more so than other sports. The way you’re seemingly backwards but in reality you are flying forward. There are no breaks, you can’t slow down, take a breather, or even see the end. You just have to have faith that the people guiding you, motivating you, and helping you (coxn shout out!) are steering you in the right direction. Sometimes it feels like you have nothing left. All you can think about is the pain. But you take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. People you love are pulling for you and you for them. Instead of stopping, quitting, giving up, you find strength and work harder with a purpose. It sure as hell isn’t easy. It is definitely not always fun. Sometimes it hurts more than anything in the world…but you never stop caring. Never stop trying. And you love every second of it.

"I believe I know less now about what is theologically true than I ever have. When I was in my twenties, I arrogantly thought I knew everything. What I realized over time is I was accumulating knowledge with a motivation to gain a sense of control or power. I’d belittle people who didn’t agree with my theology. My knowledge, as the Bible warns, made me arrogant.

As I’ve gotten older, I have let go of the illusion that I do, or we can, know everything about God. Interestingly, this is one of the reasons I cling to him more now than ever, because I used to have a false sense of control and understanding but now it has been replaced by trust. I don’t fully understand him, but I trust him."

That awful moment when you learn that this wasn’t scripted. That Will Smith’s character was actually supposed to brush off the whole thing, but Will’s father actually had left him when he was younger and he just fell apart on the set and the hug at the end was from one actor to another, not one character to another.

Yep this is my life. I legit just got tears reading this. So relatable.

spiritualinspiration:

When you’re tempted to give up on your dreams, when you’re tempted to just settle where you are, listen to that still, small voice of hope on the inside that says, “No way. This is not who I am. I was created to live in victory. I was created to overcome this sickness. I was created to rise above these problems.” Put your hope and trust in the Lord because He is faithful! As you do, He will renew your strength. He’ll cause you to soar on wings like the eagle, and you’ll be empowered to move forward confidently into the victory He has for you!
